Monthly Archives: October 2007When Nick took me to the May Street Market for my birthday last week, we picked up a flier for a Champagne tasting. This past Monday I met my friends Paul and Margaret at the tasting to celebrate my birthday, Paul’s birthday and Margaret’s return to Chicago after living in Russia for a few years. Nick met me after work and we walked from my new job in the Ukrainian Village to the May Street Market in the west loop. Neither of us had been to the May Street Market before and I was really pleased with his choice. The host explained to us that […] show 5 comments Happy Belated Birthday! Happy birthday, Gemma! Sounds like a wonderful evening. I’d not heard of the May Street Market before–looks quite good. Belated Happy Birthday Gemma! It looks like you had a really good one. And that cake looks so good! ; )

sarah - this looks so delicious. i have been on a black beans and rice kick but need to switch things around a bit. i’ll definitely try this tonight.
Shelby - Hi Gemma! This is my first time commenting even though I’ve enjoyed your blog for a while. I also love Brussel sprout – I never let the reputation of brussel sprouts dissuade me, but I did have to deal with crooked glances from other children when i announced that I indeed enjoyed the most evil of vegetables.
Terry B - Brussels sprouts are a tough sell, so you’re not alone in coming to them late. Myself, I am a huuuuge fan of white beans of any sort, especially cannellini, so this sounds quite good, Gemma.
Evan Petrie - Gemma, those photos are gorgeous. Are they with your new camera?
Much love, Evan

Scott - Brussel sprouts get a bad rap. Wholly undeserved. I’m a big fan of the white beans, I’ll have to give this one a try.
Alex - I love brussels sprouts too … brilliant when steamed, halved, fried up with some bacon and tossed with a few toasted chestnuts!

Have a great Thanksgiving!
