I bought Nick Mexican Everyday for his recent birthday and decided to try my hand at the salsa recipe this evening.  This salsa is […]

E&G - off topic, sorry. Just wanted to say hi. I found your blog listed on one of the other food blogs …I think 101 cookbooks and voila. I used to live in Chicago in wicker park, just a couple of blocks from the Damen El stop; and now I live in Portland–sounds like you’re a Reedie. ? Funny. I’m not even a vegetarian but I really enjoy your blog; the photos are lovely. I walked in to Red Hen bread once when they were looking for an apprentice. I was seriously tempted. But the pay was….not something I could live on. And the hours. Anyway. Wishing you well and looking forward to reading in the future. Best, Heather

Aquavit

The North Shore Distillery began producing Chicago’s first craft liquors in 2005.  Several months ago I first enjoyed the clean and smooth taste of their vodka when my friend Harold brought some over to my house.  I soon sampled their gin and found it pleasing as well.  The hand-numbered bottles of North Shore can be […]
